Responsibilities Promote professionalism and interact with colleagues in a way that promotes a cooperative working environment. Display technical expertise necessary to ensure timely and accurate results of laboratory procedures. Ensure specimens are obtained and processed in accordance with laboratory guidelines. Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care provider. Support organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Attain required competency and demonstrate the ability to follow procedural directions and protocols. Exhibit problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and evaluate critical laboratory results. Participate in the training/mentoring of new employees, students or interns including lectures and bench techniques. Able to prioritize and organize workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity. Demonstrate proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, performs proper prompt specimen transport. Responsible for other duties as assigned. Engage in self-evaluation of practice and takes action to improve knowledge and skills. Promote consensus building and applies techniques of conflict resolution and conduct improvement. Retain accountability for quality of care given to the patient. Promote service excellence and growth of the laboratory. QualificationsJob Requirements:
Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles. Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory. Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technology, or a chemical, physical or biological science degree. Preferred Job Requirements:
ASCP or Equivalent Certification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP) qualifies. Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Lab Tech (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.
